INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

IP is solely owned by Theryte. It has either been exclusively licensed from the University of Liverpool , which has an equity stake in the company, or filed by Theryte itself.

Theryte Ltd has patents in the following areas:

·         A unique anticancer drug target.

·         ‘Theranostic’ biomarkers to predict treatment response.

·         Identification of a key protein in tumour cell stabilization and disruption of its activity

·         Novel compounds with anti-cancer activity

ANTICANCER DRUG TARGET

Theryte has a potential “blockbuster” drug candidate compound with proven biological activity against a broad spectrum anti-cancer target. The effect is highly cancer-specific. The IPR for this is based on a completely new, breakthrough understanding of how cancer works.

As a result of this understanding, Theryte has devised a peptide compound which

- - - CAUSES CANCER CELLS TO DIE - - -,

whereas normal cells do not die. See "CANCER DRUG TARGET BREAKTHROUGH".

Further chemical development has resulted has yielded THR-53, Theryte’s lead candidate.

BIOMARKERS

Theryte’s biomarkers (theranostics) are designed to be used in tests, which identify patients with cancer and select the most appropriate treatment for each individual patient. These tests are based on intellectual property identified using Theryte’s current drug screen for conventional drugs.

Theryte has biomarkers for radiosensitivity plus relative sensitivity to platinating agents and taxanes and is further developing new tests for major classes of drugs at present in clinical use.

Commercial opportunities exist for combinations of anticancer drugs plus their appropriate theranostic test being applied in the clinic at present and even greater opportunities to produce new theranostic tests to accompany new agents on their entry into the clinic.
